Genesis 5: 32 - Methuselah, Deadly Warning
June 8th, 2010
| Why did God allow Methuselah to live longer than any other person in the Bible? We think it’s because He wanted to give more people the opportunity to be saved before being destroyed in the flood. Compare the two links below. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

Methu-Selah "Methu" means stretched out as in a casket, death. "Selah" means a missile of attack. In the Psalms the word Selah was used to draw the reader’s attention. Combined they constituted the warning, "When he dies, look out!" |

God pitied the throng. So true, Methuselah's long life is a picture of God's patience when it comes to judgement. This picture reminds me of one of my favorite Old Testament verses Joel 2:13 "So rend your heart, and not your garments; Return to the Lord your God, For He is gracious and merciful, Slow to anger, and of great kindness; And He relents from doing harm." Have you rended your heart today?

Son, And that reminds me of Proverbs 22: 6, where it all started. Dad
