Matthew was written originally for Jews, hence the carefully documented genealogy.  Abraham and David we know well, but how about Jeconiah*?  Read the two links below.

Jeconiah (Jehoiachin) was king of Judah, taken to Babylon at the beginning of the exile, a pivotal time in the history of God’s people.

Abe-to-Dave, Dave-to-Jec*, Jec-to-Son,

forty-two generations and done.

Abe to Dave, things went fine.

Dave to Jec, big decline.

Jec to Jesus completes the press-run.
